- About
HARP, Southend’s homeless charity, are backing the Captain Tom 100 and inviting you to take part in solidarity with local people experiencing homelessness.
The Captain Tom 100 invites people to take on a challenge around the number 100 anytime and anywhere over Captain Tom's birthday weekend, Friday 30th April to Monday 3rd May.
Captain Tom Moore, who famously raised over £38.9 million for NHS charities by walking 100 laps of his garden during the first lockdown, would have turned 101 on 30th April.
Captain Tom inspired hope at a time when we needed it most with his simple message – "Tomorrow will be a good day". By taking part in the 100 challenge you’ll be bringing hope to local people facing homelessness in Southend at their greatest hour of need.
HARP supports around 1,200 people each year who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, and houses over 220 formerly homeless people every night of the year.
Everyone is invited to take on a challenge around the number 100 anytime and anywhere over Captain Tom's birthday weekend.
It's so simple - just come up with a challenge around the number 100 and take it on anytime over what would have been Captain Tom’s 101st birthday weekend - from Friday 30 April to Monday 3 May.
Encourage friends and family to sponsor you or take up their own challenge.
The challenge can be anything - from running 100 laps around your garden to baking 100 cookies, or even cycling 100 miles, then share your 100 on social media using #CaptainTom100. Don't forget to also tag HARP so we can share the love and hope of what you've achieved.
Let's overcome homelessness for good.
